Why people come in for this

A knee, shoulder or hip that aches through everything you do. The usual path is anti-inflammatories, then steroid injections, then a conversation about surgery — and steroids can degrade the tissue they relieve.

What it actually does

Platelet-rich plasma is made from your own blood. We draw a sample, concentrate the platelets, and inject that concentrate into the joint or trigger point. Platelets carry growth factors involved in tissue repair.

Evidence is strongest for mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis and certain tendinopathies. We will tell you if your situation is one where it is unlikely to help.

How it works here

Assessment

What hurts, how long, what has already been tried, and whether PRP is a reasonable option for it.

Draw and concentrate

A standard blood draw, spun in the centrifuge while you wait.

The injection

Placed precisely into the joint or trigger point. Expect soreness for a few days — that is part of it.

Questions people actually ask

How long until it helps?

Typically weeks rather than days, building over one to three months. Soreness first is normal.

How many injections?

Often a series. The number depends on the joint and how you respond.

Is it covered by insurance?

Usually not. We are a cash-pay practice and you will have the price before you commit.

Is it safe?

It is your own blood, which removes rejection and allergy risk. Injection-site soreness is the common effect.

Start with a consult.

Twenty minutes. We will tell you honestly whether prp joint & trigger point injections is right for you, and what it costs.
